Delayed season start

FCALL Families,

As always, the most important priority for Frederick County American Little League is the safety and well-being of our players and volunteers. As the novel Coronavirus, (or COVID-19) continues to impact the world around us, we wanted to inform you of some recent developments.

Today saw the first confirmed case in the Shenandoah Valley. Coincidentally, Virginia District 3 received official guidance and recommendation from Little League International regarding the pandemic. Our District Administrator worked directly with the Southeast Regional office to formulate a plan of action that will have a direct impact on our league.

Effective at 12:01 AM on Friday March 13, Virginia District 3 and Frederick County American Little League are ceasing operation until April 6. FCALL is chartered through and under the authority of Virginia District 3. Without District 3, we are not permitted to operate.

All league activities are canceled until further notice. Practices will not start on Monday March 16.

Unfortunately, we have no further information at this time. Any talk of a fully canceled season or partial season is pure speculation. There are currently no plans for any of the leagues in our district up to April 6. As soon as we have a better idea of what our options as a league are, the Board of Directors will meet and discuss. Only then will we be able to provide clarity on how this impacts our players.

We appreciate your understanding in this very difficult time. Please follow all guidelines to help keep your families safe.

Thank you,
Andrew Higgs
President
